Facilities Services

Provides general maintenance duties including minor preventative maintenance work orders, critical life safety work orders and assists maintenance as a helper with maintenance work orders. Provides the identification and cleaning of storage areas on campus, and the movement of campus assets in and out of those areas. Position is classified as essential personnel under college policy and is subject to college and department policies regarding essential personnel. Performs essential duties related to facilities work as identified by management during inclement weather, emergency situations, or as campus needs dictate.

-    Performs preventative maintenance (PM) work orders to include life safety inspections and minor PM’s
-    Generates repair work orders from PM inspections as needed
-    Estimates time and material costs of various projects.
-    Provides requests to inventory controller/purchaser for requisitioning new parts and equipment.
-    Performs routine, scheduled, and emergency movement of college assets as assigned/directed by the supervisor or manager.
-    Works closely with Facilities Services Manager, staff, faculty, students and visitors on campus.
-    Performs repair, cleaning and disposal of assets as directed by the assigned supervisor or manager.
-    Identifies resource shortages to incoming groups and campus organizations as necessary, so they may obtain needed items from off-campus sources.
-    Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
-    Applies advanced skills.
-    Duties may include inclement weather safety responsibilities, including the removal of snow, ice and/or branches, and other related responsibilities as necessary due to inclement weather.
-    Duties may include activities related to preparation or clean-up during emergency situations.
-    May be required to work during campus closures.
-    Performs related duties/work as required and/or assigned.

-    Able to lift 75 lbs frequently.  
-    Must have high school diploma or GED.
-    Must have a valid NC driver’s license and clean driving history.
-    Read, speak and write English.

Knowledge and Skills:  
-    Applies advanced skills.

Working conditions & physical demands:
-    Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
-    Frequent bending, pushing, reaching, climbing; Constant standing and walking.
-    Works in moderate noise all around campus, indoor and outdoor.
